Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has alleged that a group is trying to create incidents in Khagrachari around the puja.
He said, ‘A big festival of traditional religions is going on in our country. We are making all kinds of preparations to make this festival peaceful. But a group is trying to prevent it from happening properly and with religious enthusiasm and in a festive manner. This group is the one trying to create incidents in Khagrachari.’
The Home Affairs Advisor said this after inaugurating the construction of administrative cum-barrack buildings for five police stations of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) at the old Ramna Police Station Complex in the capital on Monday afternoon.
When asked what kind of steps are being taken in this regard and the fact that three people were killed and law enforcement officers were injured there, the Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘The journalist asked a real question. This incident is being caused by India or by fascists. However, we are taking all possible measures so that no one can cause this incident. Our advisor for the Chittagong Hill Tracts is there, he is looking into the matter. He has spoken to the law enforcement agencies and local leaders.’
Noting that the situation is now in a fairly satisfactory state, the Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘You know, some terrorists have fired from the top of the hill. These weapons often come from outside. Of course, I do not want to name the country. My journalist brother has named the country. If you want to prevent this, you will need all your help and cooperation. Everyone will help and cooperate.’
The Home Affairs Advisor also said that most of the tourists who were stranded there have been brought back.
At this time, he also said, ‘A festival has started in our country since yesterday. During this festival, no one should create any chaos. Roads should not be blocked and worship should be celebrated without any hindrance. I will tell everyone to help and cooperate.
